Check that one off the list!

Yesterday I accomplished the first item on my pre-mission bucket list, which was to try balut!

BALUT: A developing duck embryo that is boiled and eaten in the shell. It is commonly sold as streetfood in the Philippines. source

I read online about how to eat the egg, and it said you are supposed to crack a hole in the top and slurp it out. I did that but I'm not sure I did it right still. I think I cracked the bottom of the egg instead of the top on accident. I had to crack through this really thick and rubbery white thing before I got to the egg, so I didn't get much of it, but just enough to say that I tried!

All my life I have been an extremely picky person when it comes to foods, so this was totally out of my comfort zone. But that's what missions are all about! I'm going to be out of my comfort zone all the time for the next 18 months, so why not start now? I'm changing and growing and becoming the person I need to be for my mission, and for the people in the Philippines.

P.S. only 80 days until thee MTC...it's coming up quick...
